SELECTED WORK
Block/tile Art
These works reimagine fragments of past sample boards as balanced, geometric compositions.
Painted Masonite grounds create atmospheric space, while collaged pieces suggest movement,
tension, and quiet narrative. Rooted in decorative tradition, the work transforms material
memory into a more personal, abstract language.
shower series
In the Shower Series, Alanson depicts solitary figures standing beneath cascading water in raw, expressive works primarily on brown paper and watercolor paper. Rendered in ink, charcoal, acrylics, and mixed-media collage, the pieces capture the human form—vulnerable yet powerful—as water dramatically splashes and flows over the body, evoking moments of
cleansing, exposure, and quiet renewal.

abstracts
Alanson’s abstract paintings burst with vibrant energy through acrylic on canvas, brown paper, and Bristol board. Bold splatters, drips, sweeping lines, and layered textures collide in dynamic compositions that balance chaos and control. Whether explosive with multicolored gestures or structured with rhythmic spirals and rich earth tones, each work pulses with raw vitality and
harmonious tension.

AlansonArt/Photo
Middlebrook also creates AlansonArt/Photo, a series of art-driven photographs
that merge his painterly approach with digital experimentation. Using layers of
filters, textures, and unconventional effects, he transforms straightforward
images into richly altered, atmospheric compositions. Working intuitively, he lets
each piece evolve through trial and discovery until the photograph takes on the
depth and complexity of a painting.
